When Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) began the process of relocating their headquarters, MCW was brought in early to consult on technology costs that would impact the decision of location and initial investment. MCW engaged in the design of the new space at the engineering level, including not only AV and collaboration solutions but also Skype for Business migration. Understanding PenFed’s existing pain points, current investments and future plans was critical.

When PenFed chose to relocate to Tysons Overlook, it was obvious that MCW would be the perfect technology partner for the project, having already worked with the Logistics Management Institute (LMI) in their relocation to the same building months prior. MCW’s previous experience in the building helped everyone better understand the nuances of cable pulls inherent to all interoperable technologies required, saving time and budgetary resources.

Prior to the Tysons build-out, MCW designed and deployed AV upgrades to the PenFed facility in Chantilly, Virginia, which houses their core data center as well as most of the PenFed IT workforce. This build-out, which included collaborative huddle spaces and a large multi-purpose room, allowed MCW and PenFed to test out the systems that would also be deployed at their new headquarters.

In total, the Tysons Overlook design-build incorporated 57 rooms including a state of the art boardroom, a multi-purpose room, large, medium and small conference rooms, huddle and team rooms, and 11 executive offices. Also, in addition to providing collaboration and conferencing technologies, MCW is developing a Crestron Fusion backend that will connect into the installed IP enabled devices and subsequently into the PenFed ticketing system. The Fusion system also works within PenFed’s Outlook domain as a room scheduling system.

MCW continues to support PenFed headquarters by augmenting their IT staff with an on-premise, certified technician who works with PenFed help desk as an extension of MCW’s internal support team. Furthermore, PenFed has awarded MCW technology contracts for three additional locations in Nebraska and Oregon.
